These terms and conditions govern your use of Soot Happens Ltd's chimney sweeping services and website. By booking our services or using our website, you agree to be bound by these terms.

2. Booking and Confirmation

2.1 Making a Booking

  • All bookings must be made through our online booking system
  • You must provide accurate and complete information when booking
  • You must be 18 years or older to make a booking
  • All bookings are subject to availability and our service area coverage

2.2 Booking Confirmation

  • A booking is confirmed once you receive a confirmation email or SMS
  • Your booking reference number will be provided in the confirmation
  • Please check all details in the confirmation and contact us immediately if anything is incorrect

2.3 Service Area

  • We currently serve postcodes in Kent only
  • Service availability is subject to our postcode coverage area
  • We reserve the right to decline bookings outside our service area

3. Pricing and Payment

3.1 Pricing

  • All prices are in UK Pounds Sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable
  • Prices are based on the number of chimneys and the complexity of the work
  • The price quoted at booking is the price you pay, unless additional work is required (see section 3.3)

3.2 Payment

  • Payment is due on completion of the service
  • We accept cash and card payments
  • No deposit is required at the time of booking
  • A receipt will be provided upon payment

3.3 Additional Work

  • If additional issues are discovered during the sweep (such as damage requiring repair), we will inform you before proceeding
  • Any additional work will be quoted separately and requires your approval before commencement
  • You are not obligated to accept quotes for additional work

4. Cancellations and Rescheduling

4.1 Customer Cancellations

  • More than 24 hours notice: Free cancellation or rescheduling
  • Less than 24 hours notice: We reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the booking value
  • No-show: Full booking value may be charged

4.2 Our Cancellations

  • We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule appointments due to illness, emergency, severe weather, or other unforeseen circumstances
  • We will provide as much notice as possible and offer alternative dates
  • No cancellation fees will apply if we cancel your booking

4.3 How to Cancel or Reschedule

  • Contact us via email or phone as soon as possible
  • Provide your booking reference number
  • We will confirm the cancellation or rescheduling in writing

5. Service Delivery

5.1 Access Requirements

  • You must provide safe and reasonable access to all chimneys to be swept
  • The work area should be cleared of furniture and valuables
  • Adequate power supply must be available
  • We reserve the right to refuse service if access is unsafe

5.2 Appointment Times

  • Appointment times are estimates and may be subject to minor variations
  • We will contact you if we are running significantly late
  • Someone over 18 must be present during the appointment

5.3 Service Standards

  • All work will be carried out by trained professionals
  • We use professional equipment and follow industry best practices
  • We will protect your property with dust sheets and cleaning equipment
  • We will leave the work area clean and tidy

6. Liability and Insurance

6.1 Our Liability

  • We carry full public liability insurance
  • We are liable for damage to your property caused by our negligence
  • We are not liable for pre-existing damage or faults discovered during the service
  • Our liability is limited to the value of the service provided

6.2 Your Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of information provided at booking
  • You must inform us of any known issues or hazards before the appointment
  • You are responsible for the security of your property during our visit

6.3 Complaints

  • If you have any concerns about our service, please contact us within 7 days
  • We will investigate all complaints thoroughly and respond within 14 days
  • We will work with you to resolve any issues fairly and promptly

7. Data Protection and Privacy

  • We collect and process personal data in accordance with GDPR and UK data protection laws
  • Your data is used solely for providing our services and communicating with you
  • We do not share your data with third parties except as necessary to provide our services

  • We will send booking confirmations and reminders via email and/or SMS as per your preferences
